Welcome to MORA Beach Cafe and Surf School at Kennack Sands

Mora Beach Cafe and Surf School is based at the beautiful Kennack Sands in Cornwall, boasting two golden sandy beaches. We are a beachside cafe that prides ourselves on serving delicious, local barista coffee and simple, tasty food using local quality ingredients. We are also home to the renowned Kennack Sands Surf School and Hire, our instructors are highly experienced and will get you standing up on a wave in no time!

LOOKING TO LEARN TO SURF IN CORNWALL? YOU’VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!

Kennack Surf School was founded in 2013 by Josh who grew up in nearby Ruan Minor, and has spent all his life surfing and enjoying the beach at Kennack Sands.

Whilst working as an RNLI beach lifeguard at Kennack, he found a passion for sharing his knowledge of the sea, and began the surf school by teaching lessons on his days off.

He went on to become an RNLI beach lifeguard supervisor, continuing lessons around work. The skills he gained in the RNLI and his lifelong experience at Kennack are invaluable when teaching lessons.

In 2021 he and his family were lucky enough to take over the running of Mora Cafe, where Kennack Surf School is situated, so don’t be surprised if you find him serving you a coffee after teaching you to stand up on a board!

SURF LESSONS

• Group lesson 7:1 ratio/instructor £25pp - 1.5 hours duration

• 1-1 lesson - 1.5 hours duration - £65 (more intensive)

The above prices are inclusive of board and wetsuit hire.

WETSUIT ONLY HIRE

Stay in the water for longer with a wetsuit. We stock a wide range of sizes for both adults and children.

2 HOURS £10 | DAY £15

SURFBOARD ONLY HIRE

We have a variety of softboards available ranging from 7ft-9ft. Softboards are the perfect choice for beginner surfers and super fun for advanced surfers when the waves are small.

2 HOURS £12 | DAY £20

BODYBOARD ONLY HIRE

Bodyboards are the most user-friendly craft available and can be used by people of all ages and abilities regardless of experience. Bodyboards are particularly fun for small children.

2 HOURS £10 | DAY £15

WINDBREAK HIRE

You can hire one of our beautiful, environmentally friendly windbreaks made by ‘Stick In The Sand’, each one has been hand sewn and tie-dyed using recycled cotton canvas. Head to the cafe to enquire about these.

You can also hire deck chairs from the cafe if you’re looking for a comfortable day on the beach, just head to the cafe to enquire.
